Enrollment or fee payment alone does not qualify a learner for a completion certificate.

Certificate eligibility depends on the requirements published for the relevant program or workshop.

1. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to professional programs, short courses, workshops and other learning experiences where BIT explicitly states that a certificate may be issued.

Not every BIT learning experience carries a certificate. Some free workshops, open sessions and introductory events are delivered without any certificate, and no certificate should be expected unless the event page or your enrollment communication states that one is issued.

2. Completion Certificate

Issued when the learner meets the published completion requirements for the relevant program.

3. Certificate of Participation

May be issued for selected workshops or short sessions when attendance or participation requirements are met. A participation certificate records attendance at a session; it does not record completion of a program.

4. Project or Capstone Recognition

May acknowledge successful completion or presentation of a specified project when the relevant program provides for it.

BIT does not award academic credits, diplomas or any credential described as equivalent to a degree.

5. General certificate requirements

Depending on the program, requirements may include:

  • Required attendance
  • Practical exercise completion
  • Assignment submission
  • Quiz or knowledge-check completion
  • Project completion
  • Capstone demonstration
  • Required documentation
  • Academic and professional conduct
  • Payment of applicable confirmed program fees, where required
  • Fulfilment of program-specific requirements

The individual program page or enrollment communication takes precedence regarding the exact requirements for that cohort.

Where the published requirements of an individual program differ from this general policy, the program-specific requirements communicated before enrollment will apply.

6. Attendance

Each program should publish its minimum attendance requirement before enrollment. Approved absences, make-up arrangements and recording access do not automatically count as live attendance unless BIT states otherwise.

Recordings may be provided according to the policy of the relevant program. Live attendance remains important for demonstrations, interaction, troubleshooting and feedback.

7. Practical work

A learner may be required to submit practical exercises, assignments, project work or documentation according to the relevant program.

Merely opening, viewing or downloading learning material does not count as completing the practical requirement.

8. Capstone and final demonstration

For programs that include a capstone, certificate eligibility may require a working project, demonstration, documentation and explanation of the learner's implementation decisions.

Where a capstone is assessed as incomplete, the program states whether the learner may revise and resubmit it, and within what window. Resubmission is not automatic and is confirmed in writing by the instructor or the Academic Office.

9. Assessment

Depending on the program, practical work may be reviewed through:

  • Completed / not completed status
  • Stated competency criteria
  • Rubric-based review
  • Instructor review
  • Presentation review
  • A resubmission opportunity, where the program allows one

BIT does not currently issue grades, marks or a pass classification. Assessment records whether the published requirements were met.

10. Incomplete requirements

Learners who have not completed the published requirements may receive an opportunity to submit outstanding work within a defined completion window, when allowed by the program.

The completion window, the number of resubmissions permitted, whether any review fee applies and whether a transfer to a later cohort is possible are stated for each program and confirmed in writing by BIT. No such arrangement should be assumed until it is confirmed.

11. Issuance process

  • Requirements are reviewed against the program record
  • Completion is confirmed by the instructor and Academic Office
  • The learner's name is verified as it will appear
  • The certificate is generated with a reference number
  • The certificate is delivered digitally, and physically where the program provides for it
  • A correction window follows delivery

Certificates are issued only after BIT verifies that the applicable requirements have been met.

Certificate information

A BIT certificate may show:

  • The learner's verified name
  • Program or workshop title
  • Completion date
  • Delivery format, where relevant
  • Certificate reference number
  • BIT name and logo
  • Authorized signature
  • A verification link or QR code, once verification is operational

BIT does not print accreditation statements or third-party logos on a certificate.

12. Name and information corrections

Learners should confirm the spelling of their name before the certificate is issued. The name used is the one confirmed by the learner during the completion review.

Correction requests are sent through Contact BIT. A correction requested within the stated correction window after delivery is made free of charge. Later reissue may carry a reissue charge, and BIT may ask the learner to verify their identity before a name is changed.

13. Verification

BIT intends to publish a certificate verification route so an employer or institution can confirm that a certificate is authentic. A verification result would return only the validity of the certificate, the learner name, the program, the completion date and the certificate reference.

Verification would never expose phone numbers, email addresses, assessment records or application details. Until this route is live, BIT does not operate a verification portal; authenticity questions are handled through Contact BIT on request.

14. Revocation

BIT may invalidate a certificate in cases such as:

  • Fraudulent identity or information
  • Plagiarized or misrepresented work
  • Unauthorized alteration of a certificate
  • Serious misconduct
  • An administrative issuance error

Except where alteration or fraud is evident, BIT reviews the matter and communicates its decision in writing to the learner before a certificate is invalidated.

What a BIT certificate does not represent

A BIT certificate confirms completion of the stated BIT learning requirements. It does not represent a university degree, government license, professional license or guaranteed employment outcome unless explicitly stated and formally authorized.

Specifically, a BIT certificate does not carry:

  • A guaranteed job
  • A guaranteed internship
  • Guaranteed income
  • Guaranteed client acquisition
  • Automatic university credit
  • Automatic professional registration

15. Use and sharing

Learners may share an authentic certificate for professional or portfolio purposes, provided it is not altered or presented as a qualification it does not represent.

16. Changes to certificate requirements

BIT should communicate material requirement changes to currently enrolled learners and should not retrospectively impose substantially different completion requirements without reasonable notice.

17. Review requests

Send a certificate review request through Contact BIT, selecting the certificate enquiry type, if you need to raise:

  • A certificate that has not been received
  • Disagreement about whether a requirement was met
  • An incorrect name or program detail
  • A question about a revocation decision
  • A verification problem

Contact BIT about a certificate. See also the Admissions Terms, the Refund and Transfer Policy and the Privacy Policy.

By participating in a certificate-bearing BIT program, the learner acknowledges that certificate eligibility depends on meeting the requirements communicated for that program.
